The Community Leadership Initiative (CLI) is a module available to 3rd year students in semester five at the School of Health & Social Science and School of Engineering.
Students take 2 lectures a week and one tutorial, and are required to volunteer in a leadership capacity for a period of a minimum of 3 months. The theoretical elements involve examining theories of leadership, its role in communities, active citizenship and social capital development. Tutorials include small group discussion on pertinent volunteer engagement issues and leadership capacity building exercises.
