What are the Society and Enterprise Fellowships?

The S&E Fellowships provide full funding for a researcher to work for up to two years at an organisation, large or small, in Europe. Funding of around €100k per annum includes:

  • Researchers’ Salary
  • Employers’ salary costs
  • Research costs
  • Management & overheads cost

What research areas are funded?

All areas of research are covered by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), including STEM subjects and the social sciences, humanities and economic sciences. The funding is entirely “bottom-up” with no call topics.  You decide the research topic based on your own needs.

Which organisations qualify for the programme?

Any organisation with strong research/innovation activities can apply, once the following is in place:

  • Appropriate research and/or innovation facilities;
  • Support with career development e.g. coaching, staff development programmes;
  • Evidence of previous research/innovation achievements e.g. publications, patents, policy interventions, trade secrets, new products/software or processes,…..;
  • A nominated person to supervise/mentor the researcher who has research/innovation experience and has supervised researchers;
  • Appropriate financial viability to access EU funding: sufficient liquidity; financial autonomy; solvent; profitable.

Which researchers qualify for the programme?

Any researcher who complies with the following is eligible:

  • Minimum experience: PhD or undergraduate degree + 4 years’ research experience
  • No upper experience limit
  • No age limits
  • No nationality requirements (non-EU nationals can use Fast Track Immigration Scheme for researchers -  www.euraxess.ie/business
  • Not lived/worked/studied in Ireland for more than 3 years in the 5 years before applying

Find a researcher to apply with you (www.euraxess.ie can help). Then devise a research project that meets your organisation’s needs and harnesses the researcher’s strengths and experience. Submit online to European Commission for evaluation.
