IRC New Foundations Scheme for Civic and Community Engagement

The Irish Research Council is delighted to announce that the New Foundations scheme is now open for applications. The deadline for submission of applications is: 12.00 noon, Tuesday 22nd December 2015. Further details can be found here: www.research.ie

New Foundations 2015

This year, the scheme will include three distinct strands:

  •          Strand 1: Engaging Civic Society for International Development- This new strand, which is run in partnership with Dóchas, will support small, discrete collaborative research projects between postdoctoral or senior researchers (acting as the applicant to the Council) and a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
  •          Strand 2: Building engagement of civic societal groups in Horizon 2020 Societal Challenges – This new strand will support small, discrete collaborative projects between postdoctoral or senior researchers (acting as the applicant to the Council) and an NGO.  The aim of this strand is to build engagement of societal groups in Horizon 2020 Societal Challenges.
  •          Strand 3: Enhancing Knowledge Exchange including Marking the National Decade of Centenaries - This strand supports eligible researchers who intend to conduct knowledge exchange and general dissemination activities in the promotion of their research. It also includes the theme Marking the National Decade of Centenaries. In 2015 the Council is offering to support activities designed specifically to contribute to the Decade of Centenaries Programme (see www.decadeofcentenaries.com for more information on the Programme).

** Changes to the application process**

Applications must be submitted via the online application portal before the deadline of 12 noon, Tuesday 22nd December 2015. The application portal is available at this link: IRC New Foundations Scheme 2015.  It allows researchers to submit their applications to the IRC via the internet with the help of a web browser. Applicants are advised not to fill in their details until they are ready to upload their completed application form and budget table, as there is no ‘save draft’ facility.  Submitted applications can no longer be changed and can only be submitted once. Essentially applicants are completing the application form and budget table as normal, but instead of submitting a hard copy, they will upload a signed and stamped copy of the application in PDF format and a budget table in Excel via the online application portal. Applicants are advised to consult the short document ‘IRC Instructions for submitting New Foundations 2015 proposals’ before uploading their application.
