Community Academic Research Links (CARL) has been established to promote and develop UCC’s community engagement agenda. The key benefits arising from community engagement are as follows:
(i) promotes the ‘public purpose’ of the university;
(ii) provides students with ‘real world’ experiential learning experiences that augment their development and employability;
(iii) serves to develop translational research applications that are of utility to the community/economy and involve knowledge transfers and exchanges between the university and civil society;
(iv) engagement by staff and students constitutes a major investment in the community (currently unquantified);
(v) potentially attracts funding from HEA and private donors interested in promoting community engagement.
CARL has embarked on a research project to map community engagement amongst UCC staff and students so that we can enhance our commitment to supporting our local and wider communities
Post Duration: 12 months
Project Title: Community Academics Research Links (CARL)
This title will apply to a person of appropriate qualifications e.g., BSc, MSc or PhD employed on a contract for the purpose of supporting a research project, programme, centre or institute. A Research Support Officer will work under the direction of one or more Principal Investigator (s)/ Senior Researcher(s) within a dedicated laboratory on one or more research projects.
