Maynooth Social Justice Week - 'A Call to Action' October 2015

Maynooth Social Justice Week in Maynooth University is a collaborative effort between students, staff, and agencies such as Trocaire and the Irish Missionary Union, aimed at raising awareness of global challenges and promoting social justice.

Social Justice Week, now in its fifth year, took place on North & South Campuses from Monday 12th to Friday 16th October.  A range of informative and creative activities were carried out during the week.

The committee specifically chose the title “Social Justice Week 2015 – A Call to Action” as we believe that this week is a rally call to the Maynooth community to actively get involved in the area of social justice and to get an insight into the types of great work that is taking place in both Ireland and the wider world as various individuals and communities try to make the world a better place. One of the aims of the week is that contributors can highlight practical ways in which our staff and students can actually get involved in the area of social justice and begin to make a positive impact on the world around us.

Maynooth students have demonstrated time and time again their commitment to reach out to people on the margins of society both in Ireland and abroad. Students have a central role in all aspects of the week, with strong involvement by the Students’ Union and by Student Services and academic staff.
