Re-Launch of Campus Engage

Following a successful day long Consultative Conference held at the Helix in Dublin on 14thDecember last year - attended by community based learning and research practitioners – Campus Engage has been relaunched.

The Presidents of all the higher education institutions (HEIs) present were asked to nominate representatives to a Steering Group which would relaunch Campus Engage as a national platform for civic engagement.

The first meeting of the new Campus Engage Steering Committee was held at the Irish Universities Association (IUA) premises in Dublin on 14th March 2013. This inclusive and representative grouping will now guide a re-launched Campus Engage. The Project Manager, who will take up position shortly, will be based at the IUA.

Campus Engage is committed to address the statement in the National Strategy for Higher Education that: “Engagement with the wider community must become more firmly embedded in the mission of higher education institutions. Higher education institutions must become more firmly embedded in the social and economic contexts of the communities they live in and serve” (National Strategy for Higher Education to 2030).
