"Housing Led Policy and Reducing Homelessness: A Comparison between Norway and Ireland from 2012 to 2016"

Dr Evelyn Dyb (Norwegian Institute for Urban & Regional Research, Oslo) &
Professor Eoin O'Sullivan (School of Social Work & Social Policy, Trinity College Dublin)

Since Norway has introduced a housing led policy in tackling homelessness, there has been a marked decline in homelessness in the country, according to Dr Dyb and her colleagues in Oslo.

This event will feature two separate presentations on the implementation of Housing Led policy in both Norway and Ireland, during the same timeframe (2012-2016).

There will be an opportunity after the presentations for Q&A and discussion.

Event is free and open to all.

Please RSVP here if you would like to attend.

Irish Housing-Led Policy

(*please note 12.30pm start time of this event)
Venue: George's Hill Chapel, Halston Street, Dublin 7

Participants: Aidan Culhane (Former Advisor to Jan O'Sullivan); Evelyn Dyb & Eoin O'Sullivan

Following on the evening event, this roundtable discussion will fully explore the implementation of housing led policy responses to homelessness in recent years, whilst drawing on the Norwegian experience also.

This event will take the format of an open discussion during which all are welcome to contribute.

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Please RSVP here.

These two events are designed so people can attend one or both events.

The evening talk will offer detail in each of the case studies (Norway and Ireland), while the lunchtime roundtable event will offer an opportunity to reflect and explore the impact of Housing Led policy in Ireland, to flesh out areas of particular challenge, whilst also looking ahead to homelessness and housing policy in the coming years. Focus Ireland advocacy events are learning and networking opportunities centred around emerging homelessness research. There is time allocated to discussion after presentations as a way of exploring implications for policy and practice. The talk is brought to a close at 2pm sharp.
