Free online course on Citizen Engagement offered by World Bank

Academics and civic society organisations may be interested in a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on community engagement, being offered by the World Bank Group free of charge.

Community engagement has been identified in the Hunt Report (2011) as the University's 'third mission'. This MOOC will be beneficial for anybody with an interest in community engagement. As was demonstrated by the high level of participation in the recent staff survey,it is clear that many staff are interested in community engagement.  

Announcing the 2015 Conference Call for Proposals

The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) is pleased to announce that proposals are now being accepted for the 2015 conference in Boston. The conference will take place November 16 - 18, 2015 and is hosted by Northeastern University. Conference program co-chairs are Becca Berkey and Lori Gardinier. 

The theme of thIs year's conference is Revolutionary Scholarship: Innovation of Community Engagement Models.

Android App Society raise €1,219 for Cara House, Letterkenny

On Tuesday 9 December, 2014 the executive and society members of the Android App Society held a raffle on campus at Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) on behalf of Cara House, Letterkenny. Cara House, the home to ‘Coderdojo’, where members of the Android App Society deliver the ‘Coderdojo’ programme to children aged between 8 to 14 years of age, has also helped many people in the Letterkenny and surrounding area over the years.

LYIT Student Union launch ‘Community Pathway Programme’

As part of the developing connection with Campus Engage, Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) Student Union, with the assistance of Fiona Kelly and Paddy Gallagher, have taken the first major steps in a ground breaking initiative. The students launched the ‘Community Pathway Programme’ in Colaiste Ailigh, Letterkenny on Friday 14 November, 2014. The ‘Community Pathway Programme’ involves greater community sharing experiences, of a mutually beneficial nature, between the community and Letterkenny Institute of Technology students.

Register now for the Global Implementation Conference in Dublin May 2015

The Global Implementation Conference (GIC) is taking place in Dublin in May 2015, the first time it has taken place outside of the United States. Early bird registration is now open until 27 March. 

The Conference will provide a unique opportunity for Europe to host a range of international speakers specialising in the area of implementation, as well as practitioners and policy makers interested in how implementation can enhance services and their work.
