NUI Galway President’s Award for 1,000 Student Volunteers

Monday, 30 March, 2015: The public are invited to attend NUI Galway’s celebration of student volunteering at the Bailey Allen Hall, Aras na Mac Leinn, Tuesday 31st March 11.30am.  Community organisations across Ireland will be in attendance to help recognise the valuable contribution student volunteers have made to their work and to society.

The mission of the Ireland Funds is to be the largest network of friends of Ireland dedicated to supporting programs of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development throughout the island of Ireland. 

Founded in 1976, The Worldwide Ireland Funds currently operate in 12 countries and have raised over $480 million for over 3,000 outstanding organizations.

President Michael D Higgins today launched the worlds first UNESCO Chair in the area of Adapted Physical Activity at the Institute of Technology, Tralee.  The UNESCO (United Nations’ Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) Chair is entitled “Transforming the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and community through Physical Education, Sport, Recreation and Fitness”.

Launched Friday 27th February, IT Blanchardstown are hosting a job-seeking and networking series on campus, in association with JobCare and Worklink, to promote individual employability.
