Shortlisted for THINKTECH, €1 million Award Fund

The Campus Engage Steering Committee and Working Group members are delighted to announce that has been shortlisted for THINKTECH, a €1 million project to grow ideas for a better Ireland. Finalists will compete for access to an award fund of up to €750,000 in grants as well as support and mentoring to further develop their social innovation.

The Irish Pilot of Carnegie Foundation’s Community Engagement Classification Nears Completion in 2016

The Irish Pilot of Carnegie Foundation’s Community Engagement Classification was initiated in 2013 by Lorraine McIlrath, NUI Galway in partnership with Professor John Saltmarsh at University of Massachusetts and Dr. Elaine Ward at Merrimack College Boston.

This project marked the first time the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning has piloted this highly respected measurement tool outside the US.

Celebrating Physical Activity for Older People at the 5th Annual Go for Life Games

The 5th Annual Go for Life Games was held in DCU Sports Centre on Saturday 11th June. This year’s event builds on the success of previous games, also held in DCU, and over the next few years Age & Opportunity plans to grow the games into one of Ireland’s largest amateur multi-sports events.

DCU's Higher Education Research Centre is Irish Partner in the UNIBILITY 'University Meets Social Responsibility' Project

In 2010 DCU's Higher Education Research Centre (HERC) became Ireland’s first university based research centre to focus explicitly on issues of higher education and lifelong learning. Located in the office of DCU’s Vice-President for Academic Affairs, HERC grew out of the interdisciplinary research network LEARN (Learning Education and Academic Research Network).

UCD introduces its newly established UCD in the Community Team!

As well as welcoming close to 5,000 new students in September, 2016, UCD is also excited to introduce its newly established UCD in the community team!

The team have been recently established to support UCD in its commitment to civic and community engagement strategy and the National Campus Engage Charter -  to create a space that is conducive to support students and staff to deliver social impact from their work.

During September and October 2016 the Campus Engage Engaged Research Working Group will be consulting as widely as possible with stakeholders, including academic staff, CSOs, funding agencies, policy officials and others, to gather information on engaged research challenges and enablers, case studies, impact, methods & techniques, and how to establish effective civic and civil society partnerships.
