Carnegie Foundation look to Ireland to fund first ever pilot study outside the US on Civic Engagement Classification

Funded by the Carnegie Foundation and the Irelands Funds, eleven Irish HEIs will work with the Community Knowledge Initiative at NUI Galway, Talloires Network and University of Massachusetts Boston to progress a year-long Irish study and first pilot of the Elective Community Engagement Classification outside of the US higher education sector.

IT Tallaght Dublin are pleased to announce the launch of the National Student Volunteer Management System – www.studentvolunteer.ie for use at Institute of Technology Tallaght and the local community.  This system developed in co-operation with the Campus Engage Network Partners – University of Limerick, DCU, NUI Galway, IT Tralee, UCC and TCD aims to manage and promote the extensive contributions made by IT Tallaght and other higher education students to their local community and nationally, through volunteering activity.

Building upon the success of individual level behaviour change interventions, Powerful Conversations for Change looks at the broadening body of systems-thinking and innovative insights which recognises the need to integrate individual interventions with community and policy level campaigns. A systems approach to social change recognises “society-wide involvement in and engagement with health and wellbeing promotion and improvement” (HI, 2014, p.9).

This year, the scheme will include three distinct strands:

Scholarship for Service Learning Opportunity in Uganda (ISLA)

The International Service Learning Alliance in association with Foundation for Community Development and Empowerment, based in the United States are now offering scholarships for our service-learning internship in Uganda. Scholarships are available for a Winter or Spring start date and applications are due October 21.

Seeking Applications for visiting U.S. Fullbright Specialists

The Fulbright Commission of Ireland is seeking applications from Irish institutions until 13th November 2015 to bring a U.S. Fulbright Specialist to their institution for two to six weeks from March 2016.  It is a creative and cost-effective way of accessing U.S. academics and professionals who might not be free to come for longer periods. The program enables Irish colleges, research centers, and educational and cultural institutions to invite U.S.

Ireland Canada Research Exchange Scholarship Programme

The Irish Canada University Foundation ( ICUF) are developing research links between Ireland and Canada through the provision of scholarships and fellowships available for mobility between Ireland and Canada for PhD students/postdocs and established researchers.
