Lorraine McIlrath, Campus Engage Steering Committee, NUIG shortlisted for Personality of the Year 2015 for EU Democratic Citizenship Awards

Lorraine McIlrath, Community Knowledge Initiative at NUI Galway and Campus Engage Steering Committee member, has been shortlisted for Personality of the Year for the 2015 European Democratic Citizenship Awards after an international Jury selected four nominees for the category. To be shortlisted is a huge honour for the CKI and NUI Galway.

Upcoming Event: Inspiring, inciting and enlightening: teaching politics in our universities

The event surrounding the topic of 'Teaching politics in our Universities: inspiring, inciting and enlightening' will take place in NUI offices on 49 Merrion Square, September 18th 2015. 

An introduction will be provided by Dr. Clodagh Harris & Dr. Bríd Quinn (co-conveners of the PSAI teaching and learning specialist group). This will be followed by a Keynote address from Professor John Craig (School of Social, Psychological and Communication Sciences, Leeds Beckett University) titled 'Linking academic study and practice'.  

Manifesto for a citizenship training of engineers

Ingénieurs sans frontières France has been working for more than a decade on critical reflection and debate on how to transform engineering training in order to respond to the need of social transition towards environmental and social justice all around the globe. Last April, the NGO has published its Manifesto For a Citizenship Training of Engineers, available now also in English and Spanish.
