Lessons learned from a community engagement initiative within Irish higher education

This paper focuses on a community–university partnership built around a programme of study co-created by residents of a disadvantaged community and situated, for the most part, within that community. Good news for the future of Engaged Researh- FP9 proposal almost ready, says Commission’s R&D chief

The plan for the EU’s next research Framework programme will be presented at the end of May, according to the European Commission’s incoming R&D chief Jean-Eric Paquet.

In his first interview following his appointment as head of the Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation last month, Paquet revealed that “most of the work” on the Commission’s Framework 9 proposal had already been done. He will take up the role on 1 April following the departure of Robert-Jan Smits, who held the post for eight years.

UCC Launch new Civic Engagement Strategy, 2017-2022

On 1 December 2017 Prof Patrick O'Shea, President of UCC, launched the university’s new Civic Engagement Strategy, 2017-2022 to a packed auditorium, filled with members of the public, civic and civil society organisations, representatives from local enterprise, media, students and staff.
