On 1 December 2017 Prof Patrick O'Shea, President of UCC, launched the university’s new Civic Engagement Strategy, 2017-2022 to a packed auditorium, filled with members of the public, civic and civil society organisations, representatives from local enterprise, media, students and staff.
A new award to recognise exceptional contributions made by staff to civic engagement has been launched.
The Registrar’s Civic Engagement Award will recognise members of Trinity staff who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in engagement with wider society in their teaching and/or research, those who have played an active role in civic engagement in Trinity either through community-based research and/or community- based learning.
This community-based learning module provides students with an opportunity to reflect in a structured way on their learning from their volunteering and community experience(s). Students should have prior and on-going experience of volunteering.
