AISHE - All Ireland Society for Higher Education
AISHE is a professional society whose goal is to bring together and support those people who are concerned to advance higher education in the island of Ireland. It promotes the professional recognition and enhancement of teaching and learning in Higher Education through a range of activities including seminars, conferences, publications, and provision of online community forums and services.
AONTAS
AONTAS is the National Adult Learning Organisation, a voluntary membership organisation. It exists to promote the development of a learning society through the provision of a quality and comprehensive system of adult learning and education which is accessible to and inclusive to all.
The members of AONTAS who now number almost 600 comprise individual, organisational and associate (overseas) members. AONTAS promotes the importance of adult and community education as a key part of lifelong learning. It influences the development of policy and lobbies on behalf of the sector. It facilitates networking among members and supports their work.
SERN - Social Entrepreneurship Research Network
The Centre for Nonprofit Management and the School of Business, Trinity College Dublin, under the auspices of their Initiative on Social Entrepreneurship would like to announce the launch of SERN the Social Entrepreneurship Research Network - the purpose of SERN is to create a network of individuals; academics or practitioners, who are interested in pursuing research into the growing discipline of Social Entrepreneurship. It is hoped that the SERN group will arrange to meet in December 2009 for its inaugural session.
