Student Volunteer Event

As part of our remit regarding student volunteering, and in preparation for the EU Year of the Volunteer in 2011, Campus Engage is pleased to announce a national conference entitled ‘Building a Voice for Student Volunteering in Ireland', to be held on November 12th and 13th in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise. The conference will bring together student volunteers from all third-level colleges across Ireland in order to provide them with:

  1. a space to meet, network, and share ideas.
  2. an opportunity to share effective practice and create ‘how to' guides on student volunteering.
  3. an occasion to reflect on their practice - its nature, impact, value, significance.
  4. an opportunity to develop a declaration / action plan for student volunteering in Ireland.

We now invite nomination of student volunteers whom you think will best represent your institution at this national event. Campus Engage will host the event and provide for accommodation, meals, speakers' fees, etc. - but not travel expenses. We respectfully suggest that each college pay the travel costs of the students selected to take part in the event. The nomination process will be online, so once you have selected your nominees you can register them through the Campus Engage website at: /volunteerdayregistration

Nominations can be made any time between now and the closing date, which is 5.00pm Thursday October 28th. Once you have completed the registration, Campus Engage will liaise with your nominees and make the necessary arrangements for their participation in the conference.

We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for your institution to be represented at a national student volunteering event and an opportunity for your students to contribute to ‘building a voice' for student volunteering in Irish higher education. We are confident that the students you select will return to your campus inspired and enthused to continue their involvement in volunteering and encourage others to do so!

We look forward very much to your college's participation in this conference and are happy to answer any queries you may have, so do feel free to contact me if you need further information.
