Australian Universities Community Engagement Alliance (AUCEA)

AUCEA is committed to fostering university-community engagement throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region. We aim to achieve excellence in university teaching and research, further develop communities, and shape our future citizens by working together - within and outside the higher education sector.

We hope that the website will become an invaluable tool and useful resource for members to share learnings, gain access to the latest information, and showcase their success stories, as part of us working together.

Campus Compact

Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents - representing some 6 million students - dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement, and service-learning in higher education.

Canadian Alliance for Community Service-Learning

The Canadian Alliance for Community Service-Learning provides leadership and support for the development and enhancement of Community Service-Learning in Canada, connects with international networks, and promotes the benefits of this approach to universities, students, and community organizations. The Alliance is an informal organization which is led by a Steering Committee, and currently has a single staff person hosted at Carleton University in Ottawa who acts as Director.

Civicus

CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation is an international alliance established in 1993 to nurture the foundation, growth and protection of citizen action throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens' freedom of association are threatened.

CLAYSS - Latin American Center for Service Learning

The mission of CLAYSS is to contribute to the growth of a fraternal and cooperative culture in Latin American through the development of service-learning projects.

Institutional objectives:

• To promote the development of the service-learning methodology in Latin America.
• To provide training to school principals, teachers and community leaders for the development of community educational projects and pro-social attitudes.
• To contribute to the development of service-learning projects in schools, higher educational institutions, universities and youth organizations.

Its activities and services include: Training, Technical advice and assistance, Research and Publications.

• Network of community service institutions
  CLAYSS connects schools, universities, and higher educational institutions that promote service-learning, and it provides resources for teacher training and for the optimization of the projects

CUPP University of Brighton

CUPP (Community University Partnerhip Prograamme) is about partnership working between the University of Brighton and local communities. We are currently involved in four areas of engagement at the University of Brighton:

Cupp Helpdesk - point of entry to the university for local community, voluntary and statutory organisations enquiring about research and other possible collaborative opportunities.

Student Community Engagement - all community engaged work by students of the University of Brighton undertaken in community settings as part of their accredited curriculum.

South East Coastal Communities Programme (SECC) - Partnership with several higher education institutions working with coastal communities of the South East to develop capacity for long term benefits to health and wellbeing.

Britghton & Sussex Community Knowledge Exchange (BSCKE) - BSCKE has been an initiative to support the development of innovative high impact projects that contribute to social transformation and bring real issues into teaching and research. End of project: July 2009.

Living Knowledge/Science Shops

A science shop provides independent, participatory research support in response to concerns experienced by civil society. Science shops use the term 'science' in its broadest sense, incorporating social and human sciences, as well as natural, physical, engineering and technical sciences.

The Talloires Network

The Talloires Network is an international association of institutions committed to strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education.
