Campus Engage is pleased to announce the release of three updated How-To Guides for Engaged Research. These guides have been informed by a literature review and year-long national and international consultation with over 350 researchers, policy makers, funding agency personnel and societal partners. The consultation let to the development of a national report, Society & Higher Education Working Together to Address Grand Societal Challenges (2018) which offered initial how-to guidance to research teams.

This year, Campus Engage, the IUA, the HEA, and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning partnered to advance training and resources on engaged research and innovation for societal impact. Content was informed by the latest European and Irish policies for research innovation, including Horizon Europe along with national policies and funding strategies.

The new Guides have been updated to incorporate the latest associated frameworks published between 2017 and 2022.They are informed by a review of the most recent literature relating to planning for research and innovation impact. These frameworks aim to inspire and support researchers to maximiser their impact. The information provided is not intended to be prescriptive, nor is it conclusive, but rather attempts to inspire and guide all those planning for engaged research projects, their longer-term impact, and in drafting associated funding applications. All three guides can be found in our resources section for Engaged Research. You may also access them here:
Additionally, in partnership with the National Forum, Campus Engage is running an Online Course: Engaged Research & Innovation For Societal Impact: Building Capacity Across Ireland. Find out more here.
